Warming up for WINTER......

Hi Guys,

How did you go with the tips from our last newsletter. If you have been doing it regularly, you will be noticing a difference by now!

Not sure about you, but i'm not looking forward to the coming cold months... This is the time where a lot of people bunker down and training seems to slip away. The fact is that this is the best time to be getting in and training. This is the best way to make sure we have great circulation to help maintain body tempreture. Not only this, this is the best time to start preparing our bodies for summer. Yes thats right, most of us leave it until summer hits and by than its to late to achieve maximum results by the time we start getting those swimmers ready.

During the colder months, we tend to eat more as our bodies require greater energy to keep our bodies warm. If we aren't careful and/or stop exercising, all the excess energy will be stored as body fat

Some tips for training during winter:

- Find a location where you can train even if weather turns bad
- Get warm first: make sure you take time to warm up properly. Make sure your muscles are warm and loose before getting into hard training
- Insulate your body – If exercising outdoors, wear layers of clothing. Layering provides the most effective heating method and allows you to remove the top layer if you get too hot.
- Drink up - It's just as important to stay hydrated when exercising in winter as it is in summer, even though you might not feel as thirsty

So set your winter goals now and keep striving to be a better you!
